Charges Pending in Fatal Traffic Accident at 6100 South Sam Houston Parkway May 11, 2009 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 6100 South Sam Houston Parkway about 9:20 a.m. on Sunday (May 10). A male victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His identification is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office. HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Calley reported: A Chevrolet Suburban was traveling southbound on West Fuqua when the driver ran a red light at the intersection of the South Sam Houston Tollway eastbound service road and struck a Cadillac that was traveling eastbound on the service road. The driver of the Suburban was transported to Southwest Memorial Hermann Hospital with injuries. The driver of the Cadillac was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Suburban was found to be intoxicated and the Fort Bend County District Attorney has accepted charges of intoxication manslaughter. The driver was transported to the Fort Bend County jail after being released from the hospital. JKS/JC
