Charges Filed in Fatal Stabbing at 800 Rushcreek March 17, 2009 - Charges have been filed against three suspects arrested in the fatal stabbing of a man found in the 800 block of Rushcreek about 8:40 a.m. on Feb. 9. Two suspects, Mercedes Antonio Menjivar (H/m, DOB: 5-25-84) and Luis Abraham Requeno-Portillo (H/m, DOB: 7-19-81) are charged with murder in the 183rd State District Court. Another suspect, Pedro Ronaldo Menjivar-Orellana (H/m, DOB: 3-30-86) is charged with murder in the 262nd State District Court. All three suspects are accused in the killing of Noe Alexander Funes, 25, of Houston. Mr. Funes suffered multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. HPD Homicide Division Sergeants M. Dillingham and J. C. Padilla reported: Officers responded to a deceased male call in the 800 block of Rushcreek and found Mr. Funes lying in the brush. An investigation determined on Feb. 8, Funes was seen at a nearby restaurant leaving with suspect Pedro Menjivar-Orellana. Suspects Mercedes Menjivar and Luis Abraham Requeno-Portillo were then picked up from a residence and, at some point, stabbed Funes before dropping his body in the roadway. According to witnesses, Funes had insulted Menjivar-Orellana at the restaurant. Further investigation developed Menjivar-Orellana, Menjivar and Requeno-Portillo as suspects in this case. Manjivar and Requeno-Portillo were arrested on March 4 at a residence in Harris County without incident. Menjivar-Orellana was arrested on Monday (March 16) in Brooklyn, New York. Update: VHS/JC
