Armed Suspect Arrested, Charged at 2901 Walnut Bend Lane June 8, 2009 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested following an attempted robbery where an on-duty Houston police officer discharged his duty weapon at 2901 Walnut Bend Lane about 7:05 a.m. on Saturday (June 6). The suspect, Brain O’Neal Dupor (b/m/, DOB: 11-14-86), is charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon in the 184th State District Court. Officer P. Caro, who discharged his duty weapon, was sworn in as an officer in May of 1996. Officer Caro, assigned to the Westside Patrol Division, was not injured in this incident. HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C. E. Elliot and Senior Police Officer A. Mares reported: Patrol officers responded to a robbery in progress call at 2901 Walnut Bend Lane and saw suspect Dupor inside the store. Dupor, armed with a pistol, then fled out the back door and attempted to climb an apartment complex fence, while Officer Caro pursued him on foot. When he could not make it over the fence, Dupor then turned towards Officer Caro with the pistol in his right hand. Officer Caro, in fear of his life, fired his duty weapon but did not strike Dupor. Dupor then surrendered and was taken into custody. Two employees of the store were transported to an area hospital for minor head injuries. As is customary in officer-involved shootings that occur within the city limits, this case will be investigated by the HPD Homicide and Internal Affairs Division, as well as the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.
