Investigation into Apparent Suicide at 1800 Bethlehem July 24, 2009 - Houston police are investigating the apparent suicide of a man in the 1800 block of Bethlehem about 8:40 a.m. today (July 24). The victim, Brain Russell Gabrysch, 38, suffered an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the temple and was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J.T. Parker and Senior Police Officer S.R. Straughter reported: Patrol officers responded to a call of a family disturbance with weapons in the 1800 block of Bethlehem. Information was given that Mr. Gabrysch had left in a gray Toyota Avalon, armed with a weapon. Officers responding to the location saw Gabrysch in the Avalon and attempted to stop him. Gabrysch refused to stop, returned to 1800 block of Bethlehem and drove into the front yard of a residence. Before officers were able to make contact with Gabrysch he shot himself one time. He was taken to the hospital where he later died. JKS/VHS
