Fatal Traffic Accident at 12700 East Freeway

July 20, 2009 - Houston police are investigating a fatal accident at 12700 East Freeway (East Interstate Highway 10) about 7:45 p.m. on Saturday (July 18).

A male passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.  His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office.  The driver was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital in critical condition.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant R. Gonzales and Officer F. Bashir reported:

The driver of a beige Honda Accord was westbound when he lost control of his vehicle and struck the concrete divider.  The Accord then turned sideways into traffic where it was struck by a white Ford F-250 pickup truck.  The driver of the truck was unharmed and released at the scene. 

The investigation is continuing.
