Fatal Traffic Accident at 3000 North Sam Houston Parkway

July 6, 2009 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 3000 block of the North Sam Houston Parkway about 7:15 a.m. on Friday (July 3). 

A male victim, 56, was pronounced dead at the scene.  His identification is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant G.T. Hall and Officer D.C. Hall reported: 

The driver of a garbage truck stopped on the eastbound service road of the North Sam Houston Parkway to assist victims in a one-vehicle accident.  After the driver assisted the victims, a red Chevrolet HHR, also traveling eastbound on the service road, crashed into the back of the garbage truck.  The passenger in the Chevrolet was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver sustained facial injuries.

No charges have been filed at this time.  The investigation is continuing.
