Fatal Traffic Accident at South Gessner and Beechnut

January 27, 2008 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at the intersection of South Gessner and Beechnut about 4:45 a.m. today (Jan. 27).

The female victim, in her 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. S. Runyan and Officer S. Johnson reported:

The driver of a silver Mazda 626 was traveling northbound on South Gessner when he struck the side of a brown Toyota Camry, driven by the victim. According to witnesses, an unknown male, who is believed to be the driver of the Mazda, was seen running from the scene. He has not been identified or apprehended.

The investigation is continuing.
