Fatal Traffic Accident on Aldine Bender at JFK

January 16, 2008 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident on Aldine Bender Road at JFK Boulevard about 3:10 p.m. on Wednesday (Jan. 14).

The name of the deceased female victim, 33, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant N.A. Perry and Officer M.D. Lowder reported:

The driver of an 18-wheeler was traveling east on Aldine Bender and making a left turn onto JFK Boulevard. The victim was driving a white Chrysler 300, westbound on Aldine Bender. According to witnesses, the 18-wheeler had a green arrow to make a left turn. During the turn, the signal changed from yellow to red before the trailer portion of the truck cleared the intersection. Witnesses said the westbound traffic on Aldine Bender then had a green light. At that time, the female driver of the Chrysler entered the intersection and struck the trailer. The female died at the scene.

The investigation is continuing.
