Fatal Traffic Accident at 12500 Gulf Freeway

January 16, 2008 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 12500 block of the Gulf Freeway (Interstate Highway 45 South) about 11:40 p.m. on Thursday (Jan. 16).

A male victim was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. His identity is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Chambers and Officer M. Reyes reported:

The victim (driver) and a female passenger were in a gold Cadillac Escalade traveling south on the Gulf Freeway when the driver turned westbound on the entrance ramp to Fuqua and lost control. The Escalade then struck a curb, rolled and partially ejected the driver. The female passenger was not injured.

The investigation is continuing.
