Investigation Into Child's Death at 1110 Stude

February 27, 2008 - Houston police are investigating the drowning of a child at 1110 Stude about 3:15 p.m. on Thursday (Feb. 26).

The identity of the male victim, two years of age, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Despite heroic efforts of two Houston police officers aboard an HPD helicopter who located and then rescued the child from the water, the boy was pronounced dead at Christus St. Joseph Hospital.

HPD Homicide Division Officers C. Sturdivant and J. Robles reported:

The victim was being watched by his grandmother when he wandered outside a residence and fell down an embankment into White Oak Bayou.

He was then transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
