Fatal Shooting at 1627 Ansbury December 31, 2009 - The fatal shooting of a male suspect and wounding of a female suspect at 1627 Ansbury about 1:25 a.m. today (Dec. 31) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury. The male suspect was shot twice and taken to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The female suspect was also shot one time in the neck and taken to a local hospital in fair condition. The homeowner (the shooter), 58, suffered an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the foot and was transported to an area hospital in an unknown condition. HPD Homicide Division Sergeant W. Meeler and Police Officer K. Lopez reported: The homeowner awoke to a noise outside his residence. Looking outside, he saw an unknown male suspect breaking into his truck and removing tools from a toolbox. The homeowner then confronted the male suspect in the front yard and shot him twice. The homeowner then confronted a female suspect, who was seated in a vehicle in front of the residence with the door open and the engine running. As the homeowner reached the vehicle, the female jumped into the passenger seat. The homeowner, fearing for his life, fired one time, striking the female suspect.
