Fatal Traffic Accident at 6100 West Bellfort

August 31, 2009 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 6100 block of West Bellfort about 5 p.m. on Friday (Aug. 28).

The identity of the deceased male victim, believed to be 35 to 45 years of age, is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner's Office. He died of his injuries the next morning at Ben Taub General Hospital.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Usher and Officer L. Ho reported:

The victim attempted to cross the street in the 6100 block of West Bellfort but was struck by a Honda Accord. Paramedics arrived and transported him to the hospital. A witness stated the victim appeared to be intoxicated.

The driver was questioned at the scene and released without charges at this time. The investigation is continuing.
