Wanted Suspect Charged in Fatal Shooting at 6163 Wilcrest August 25, 2009 - Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a woman and the wounding of a man at 6163 Wilcrest about 2:30 a.m. on August 17. The suspect, Xiaokang Zhao (A/m, DOB: 1-16-87), is charged with murder in the 183rd State District Court. Zhao is 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs about 185 pounds. He has short black hair. It is believed Zhao was possibly headed to Canada, but he might also be hiding in the Bellaire / Hillcroft area of Houston. A photo of suspect Zhao, who has aliases of Victor Zhao and “Kang Kang,” is attached to this news release.
The female victim, Miao Yan Feng, 21, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. The male victim also suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital in stable condition. HPD Homicide Division Sergeants J.H. Roberts and B.C. Williams reported: The male victim was leaving the Love of 1970 Café with the female victim, Ms. Feng, when he got into an argument with the suspect, Zhao, at the entrance of the café. Zhao shot the male twice, who then fell to the ground. Ms. Feng knelt down to give the victim aid and was also shot twice by Zhao. Ms. Feng was pronounced dead at the scene and the male victim was transported to the hospital where he is expected to recover from his wounds.
