Suspect Wounded, Charged in Incident at 3500 West Little York #2115

August 10, 2009 - Charges have been filed against a narcotics suspect wounded by a Houston police officer at 3500 West Little York #2115 about 11:25 a.m. on Friday (Aug. 7).

The suspect, Brian Keith Lee (b/m, DOB: 8-14-87) is charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance in the 228th State District Court.  He was wounded in the left arm and treated and released from Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital.

The officer who discharged his weapon, Officer R.B. Olive of the North Patrol Division, was not injured.  He was sworn in as an officer in April 2002.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J.T. Parker and Senior Police Officer R.P. Martinez reported:

Officers with the HPD Narcotics Division served a narcotics search warrant at an apartment at 3500 West Little York.  They announced their presence and entered the apartment.  At that time, suspect Lee ran to a back bedroom and crashed through a window in an attempt to escape.

While outside, Lee ignored commands to stay on the ground and quickly got up and charged at Officer Olive.  Knowing suspect Lee was armed during drug deals and given the violent manner in which Lee was acting, the officer feared for his safety and discharged his duty weapon striking Lee one time.  Paramedics transported him to the hospital in stable condition.

Officers recovered marijuana, crack cocaine, codeine and a pistol from inside Lee’s apartment.

As is customary in officer-involved shooting incidents in the city limits, the case is being investigated by the HPD Homicide and Internal Affairs Divisions as well as the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.
