Fatal Traffic Accident at South Freeway Near Almeda Genoa

August 4, 2009 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at the South Freeway (State Highway 288 South) near Almeda Genoa about 4:15 p.m. on Monday (Aug. 3). 

The victim, identified as Annie Leona Pendleton, 59, of Houston, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant S. R. Sorge and Officer M. Johnson reported:

Ms. Pendleton was traveling in a tan four-door Saturn, southbound in the grassy median, just to the left of the southbound lanes of the South Freeway, at a high rate of speed.  She then drove across the Almeda Genoa overpass and crash landed onto Almeda Genoa. 

The investigation is continuing.
