Fatal Shooting at 4300 South Shaver

September 12, 2008 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 4300 South Shaver about 4:25 a.m. today (September 12).

The victim, Michael Cardenas, 26, of Pasadena, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant T.R. Hernandez and Officer X. Avila reported:

The victim confronted and argued with the suspect in the courtyard of the La Villita apartments about a recent drug purchase. Witnesses said the victim wanted to fight, and pushed the suspect, at which time the suspect produced a gun and shot the victim. The suspect, described only as a Hispanic male, then fled the complex.
