Mother Arrested, Charged in Infant’s Death November 3, 2008 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the death of a baby girl at an area hospital on May 14. The suspect, Jessica Roshea Van Wright (b/f, DOB: 7-16-89) the mother of the victim, is charged with injury to a child-serious bodily injury in the 182nd State District Court. The victim, identified as Asia Richardson, three months old, was pronounced dead at Texas Children’s Hospital after being transported from her residence at 1726 Beaverbend. There were no visible signs of injuries to her body. HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Rubio, Senior Police Officers A. J. Palos and C. T. Hufstedler and Officer B.D. Evans reported: Van Wright stated she found her daughter in her crib and having difficulty breathing. She dialed 911 and requested medical assistance. Paramedics responded, performed CPR on the baby and transported her to the hospital where she died shortly after arrival. An autopsy conducted by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office revealed a history of abuse to baby Asia. Van Wright was arrested on Thursday (Oct. 30) at her residence without incident.
