Infant Death Investigation at 3000 South Highway 6
May 23, 2008 - Charges are pending against two suspects arrested in the death of an infant found at 3000 South Highway 6 about 6:30 a.m. today (May 23).
The suspects, Crystal Sosa (H/f, DOB: 4-30-83) and Dezmond Dewayne Blake (b/m, DOB: 01-6-80), face charges of tampering with evidence and are currently in custody.
The victim, Devin Blake, six months of age, was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy will be performed by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause of death.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant P. Motard and Senior Police Officer C. Abbondandolo reported:
Officers responded to a call of the discovery of a baby in a freezer at the Inn Town Suites at 3000 South Highway 6. Officers found Baby Devin, deceased and frozen in a bag, in the freezer of one of the motel units. Blake, who called the police, claimed to be the baby’s father.
Further investigation determined Baby Devin had been in the freezer since May 2007. Both Sosa (the baby’s mother) and Blake lived in the motel for over a year.
Additional charges are possible, pending the outcome of the investigation.
