Fatal Traffic Accident on East Houston at Attwater

May 21, 2008 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident on East Houston at Attwater Street about 7 p.m. on Tuesday (May 20).

The deceased victim, Arnold Holderrieth, 42, was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant D. Morgan and Officer Y. Wood reported:

The victim was operating a blue Kawasaki motorcycle, traveling north on East Houston. One 14-wheeler and two 18-wheelers were stopped at a stop sign. The 14-wheeler was west on Attwater and making a left turn on to East Houston. The two other trucks were in separate lanes, north on East Houston, attempting to turn right on to Attwater. The motorcycle, traveling behind the two 18-wheelers, struck the 14-wheeler making the turn on to East Houston. The motorcyclist was determined to be at fault for failure to pass safely.

The investigation is continuing.
