Suspect Charged in Fatal Shooting at 1706 Spur Lane
May 20, 2008 - Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a man at 1706 Spur Lane about 10:25 p.m. on Monday (May 20).
The suspect, Omar Javier Torres (H/m, DOB: 5-19-80), is charged with murder in the 248th State District Court. A photo suspect Torres is available at the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
The victim suffered a gunshot wound and was transported to Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital where he was pronounced dead. His identity is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office.
HPD Homicide Division Senior Police Officer B.D. Evans and Officer E. R. Godwin reported:
Torres entered his ex-girlfriend’s residence at 1706 Spur Lane, where she and her new boyfriend (the victim) were eating dinner. Torres pulled out a handgun and fired once at the victim grazing his head, then approached the victim, fired a second time and struck him in the head.
The ex-girlfriend was not injured in the incident.
Torres fled the scene in a white 2000 Chevrolet Extended Cab Z-71 pick-up truck, with Texas license plates 71V-FY6.
