Update on Fatal Shooting at 6800 M. L. K. Boulevard

March 11, 2008 - Charges have been filed against a Librado Medina Jimenezsuspect wanted in the fatal shooting of two men at 6800 Martin Luther King Boulevard about 3:55 p. m. on Saturday (March 8).

The suspect, Librado Medina Jimenez (H/m, DOB: 3-9-74), is charged with capital murder in the 262nd State District Court. He is accused in the killing of Israel Alvarado 18, of 5907 Southwell, and Israel Gevara, 50, of the same address. A photo of suspect Librado Jimenez is attached to this news release.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant E. Cisneros and Officer J. Robles reported:

Mr. Gevara and Mr. Alvarado, who are father and son, attempted to recover rent from a previous tenant, later identified as Jimenez, when the men got into a physical struggle. Jimenez shot Gevara and Alvarado, and then fled the scene in a black Chevrolet S-10 pickup with a “Grim Reaper” sticker across the back window and the word “Chevy” written in gold across the tailgate. Jimenez is believed to be enroute to Mexico.

Israel Alvarado died at the scene while his father was pronounced dead at Ben Taub General Hospital.
