Fatal Traffic Accident at 8300 Gulf Freeway

July 9, 2008 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 8300 block of the Gulf Freeway (Interstate Highway 45 South) about 1:15 a.m. today (July 9).

The male victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Arnold and Officer D. Gutierrez reported:

A witness stated the victim was driving a gray Cadillac Coupe Deville southbound on the Gulf Freeway, at a high rate of speed, after exiting the 610 South Loop. The driver then lost control of the Cadillac and hit the HOV retaining wall on the left shoulder of the freeway. The vehicle then flipped and the driver was ejected.

No other vehicles were involved in this incident and the investigation is continuing.
