Injury to a Child Incident at 7600 Beechnut February 11, 2008 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in an injury to a child incident at 7600 Beechnut about 11:15 p.m. on Saturday (February 9). The suspect, Genny Granados (H/f, DOB: 1/1/79), is charged with injury to a child-serious bodily injury in the 174th State District Court. She is accused in the injury to her newborn child, Baby Boy Granados. HPD Homicide Division Sergeant W.P. Booth and Officer A.D. Brown reported: Ms. Granados was taken by a private vehicle to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital and while she was waiting to be admitted, gave birth to a child in the lobby bathroom. Granados then cut the umbilical cord, placed the newborn in the trashcan and covered him with paper towels. A member of housekeeping was sent to clean the bathroom and removed the trash bag. At that time, she observed paper towels with blood and something suspicious inside. A nurse responded and opened the bag to find the newborn child. Doctors resuscitated the baby, who is listed in critical condition. Hospital personnel questioned Granados who admitted giving birth to the child in the bathroom and placing him in the trashcan.
