Aggravated Assault of a Peace Officer at 9001 Jensen Drive December 04, 2008 - Houston police have arrested three suspects in an aggravated assault on two Houston Independent School District police officers during a robbery at 9001 Jensen Drive about 11:40 a.m. on Tuesday (Dec. 3). Two juvenile male suspects, 15 and 16 years of age, have been referred to Harris County Juvenile Probation authorities on charges of aggravated assault of a peace officer and aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon. A third male suspect, Eraclio Robert Salas (H/m, DOB: 5-29-84), faces a pending charge of aggravated robbery for his role in the incident. HPD Homicide Division Sergeants E.B. Cisneros, T.R. Hernandez and Senior Police Officers X.E. Avila and P.J. Guerrero reported: HISD patrol officers M. Jacobs III and Q. Flannel, on duty and in a marked patrol vehicle, responded to a robbery in-progress call at the Food Land store at 9001 Jensen. Officers arrived and saw two juvenile males running out of the store, armed with guns and carrying stolen jewelry. As both suspects ran into an alleyway behind the store, with officers Jacobs and Flannel pursuing them in their patrol vehicle, one of juveniles fell to the ground and dropped a shotgun. As Officer Jacobs got out to pick up the shotgun, the other still-armed suspect fired a shot at him. Fearing for his life, Officer Jacobs fired his duty weapon, but did not strike either suspect. The suspects then ran onto a large vacant lot behind homes in the 2600 block of Firnat. HPD patrol officers then set up a perimeter, a K-9 unit responded to the scene and located both suspects hiding in a field. One suspect was bitten by the K-9 and was transported to LBJ Hospital where he was treated and released. Further investigation developed information leading to the getaway driver (Salas), who was arrested without incident today (Dec. 4). VHS/JFC |
