Fatality Accident at 1400 West Loop North August 4, 2008 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 1400 block of the West Loop North about 9 a.m. on Saturday (August 2). The male victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office. HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Calley and Officer D. Harwell reported: The victim was driving a gray Toyota Camry northbound on the West Loop North when an unidentified sports utility vehicle had a blowout on the freeway. The victim tried to avoid debris from the tire and swerved into the lane of a white Peterbuilt 18-wheeler, also northbound on the West Loop North. The Camry went underneath the trailer of the 18-wheeler which caused the trailer’s back axle to roll over the victim. The investigation is continuing. GO/VHS |
