2nd Update on Incident at 2737 Briargrove Drive #121
September 18, 2007 - Houston police have arrested a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a woman in the 6400 block of the Eastex Freeway about 10 a.m. on Friday, September 7.
Vernon Michael Scott (b/m, DOB: 7-5-83), surrendered to officers on Monday (September 17), at the Houston Police Department Headquarters located at 1200 Travis.
Scott is charged with capital murder in the 262nd State District Court and is accused in the killing of Jane L. Lemoine, 53, of 6400 Eastex Freeway. She suffered a gunshot wound and died at the scene.
A second suspect, Charles Wright Scott (b/m, DOB: 8-4-81), is still wanted and is also charged with capital murder in the 262nd State District Court.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C. E. Elliot and Officer R.A. Swainson reported:
The victim, Jane L. Lemoine, 53, of 6400 Eastex
Freeway was the manager of a storage facility and
lived on the premises. Charles and Vernon Scott
entered the office/residence and demanded money. One
of the suspects shot Lemoine and then they took cash
from the office and stole a 2002 white Dodge Caravan
with Texas license plates 349KXR. The vehicle
belonged to an individual who had gone to the business
to apply for a job. The individual was not harmed.
A follow-up investigation identified Charles and
Vernon Scott as the suspects in this case. The stolen
vehicle has still not been recovered.
