Traffic Incident at 6200 Southwest Freeway Service Road November 7, 2007 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 6200 block of the Southwest Freeway (Highway 59 South) service road at Westpark about 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday (November 6). The victim was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s office. HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant D. Arnold and Officer S.M. Johnson reported: The driver of a green Ford Explorer and his passenger were traveling eastbound on the Southwest Freeway service road at a high rate of speed, when he attempted to make a sharp left turn onto Westpark. The Explorer went up onto the curb and hit the third underpass pillar on the driver’s side. The vehicle continued over the median before coming to a stop in the U-turn lane. The driver was transported to the hospital and his passenger, who had no apparent injuries, walked away from the scene shortly after the accident. The investigation is continuing.
