Incident at 8601A Martin Luther King Boulevard May 15, 2007 - Houston police are investigating the death of a man at 8601A Martin Luther King Boulevard about 8:30 p.m. on Monday (May 14). The male victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification to next of kin. HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. C. Padilla and Officer K. P. Carr reported: Officers arrived at the 5700 block of Schevers Street and found the victim lying in the roadway with severe injuries to his head. Witnesses told investigators he was also the victim of a possible robbery/auto theft that occurred at a Shell station at 8601A Martin Luther King Boulevard. According to witnesses, the victim was clinging to his vehicle as it was being stolen by unknown suspects from the parking lot of the Shell station. The vehicle traveled east on Reed Road at a high rate of speed, when the victim apparently fell off and was possibly run over. He was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital and later died of his injuries. An autopsy will be performed by the Harris County Medical Examiner to determine the cause of death.
