Traffic Incident at 7400 Mesa Road

March 15, 2007 -- Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 7400 block of Mesa Road about 9:40 a.m. on Wednesday (March 14).

The male victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s office.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant M. W. Bearden and Officer A. Taylor reported:

The victim was driving a commercial truck exiting a truck station onto Mesa Road as another commercial truck was entering the same station. The driver of the truck entering observed the victim holding onto the steering wheel and shaking as the victim drove into his truck. The victim continued into a six-foot deep ditch near the entrance of the truck station.

Investigators have not determined if the victim suffered a medical condition or died as a result of the accident.

The investigation is continuing.
