Traffic Incident at 17100 U.S. Highway 59 North June 25, 2007 - Houston police are investigating a fatal accident at 17100 Eastex Freeway (U.S. Highway 59 North) around 3:20 p.m. on Sunday (June 24). The driver, Eddie Golden, 30, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other victims, identified only as black females, were also pronounced dead at the scene. HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant L.H. Lefler and Officer R. Davidson reported: A witness saw Golden, traveling north on U.S. Highway 59 in a white Buick, strike an unknown vehicle and failed to stop and give information. The Buick continued traveling northbound for several miles before making a U-turn on the freeway mainlanes. The white Buick then traveled south on U.S. 59 North mainlanes and struck an oncoming maroon Ford head-on, occupied by two females and three children. The white Buick then veered to the other side of the freeway and struck a red Pontiac, occupied by a female. The female victims in the maroon Ford were pronounced dead at the scene. Two children were transported by Life Flight to Memorial Hermann Hospital with major injuries while a third child was transported by ambulance, also with major injuries. Their conditions are unknown at this time. The female victim in the red Pontiac was also transported by ambulance to an area hospital with minor injuries. Her condition is also unknown at this time.
