Incident at 12700 Hillcroft June 16, 2007 - Houston police are investigating an incident in which one or more suspects fired shots in the direction of a law enforcement officer at 12700 Hillcroft about 12:35 a.m. today (June 16). The law enforcement officer, Deputy A. Johnson of the Fort Bend County Precinct 2 Constable’s office, was not injured. Several suspects, described only as black males driving in a gray minivan, fled in the vehicle and then on foot. HPD Homicide Division Sergeant O. Belmarez and Officers J. Coffelt and E.R. Carstens reported: Deputy Johnson was working an extra job at the Butler Skating Rink at 14083 Main Street. Just after midnight, he directed a group of five to seven teen-aged black males to leave the location because they were causing a disturbance. The deputy and other witnesses saw the males leave in a gray minivan. About 30 minutes later, the deputy and witnesses saw the van drive through the parking lot near the skating rink. When the van pulled onto Hillcroft, an unknown number of suspects fired multiple shots. Deputy Johnson was in his marked patrol vehicle at the time and believes the gunshots were directed toward him. He pursued the suspects until they jumped from the van and ran in the 12500 block of Dunlap. The suspects have not been apprehended. One gun, determined to be stolen, was recovered inside the van. Anyone with information on the suspects wanted in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
