Incident at 9900 North Loop East

June 7, 2007 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 9900 North Loop East (610 East) at 6:15 a.m. today (June 7).

The victim, Carlos David Berdeguez, 47, suffered a gunshot wound to his chest and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant B.E. Roberts and Officer J. Sosa reported:

Witnesses observed Mr. Berdeguez traveling south in a white Chevrolet pickup truck on the North Loop East (610 East), just north of Interstate 10 (I-10), hit the center retaining wall and then swerve across the freeway. The vehicle struck the retaining wall two more times and stopped in the 3200 block of East Loop North, just south of Interstate 10. HPD officers arrived and found the passenger side window shattered and Mr. Berdeguez deceased.

There are neither suspects nor a motive in this case.
