Update On Incident At 4900 Weaver July 30, 2007 - Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a man at 4900 Weaver about 11:35 p.m. on Thursday (July 26). The suspect, Shemika Newell (b/f, DOB: 4/9/77), has been charged with murder in the 180th State District Court. She is still wanted in this incident and is described as 5 feet 1 inches tall and weighs approximately 190 pounds. HPD Homicide Division Officers E. R. Carstens and J. L. Coffelt reported: The victim, whose identity is pending notification to next of kin, and his ex-girlfriend Newell, were said to be arguing on the sidewalk because Newell thought the victim had taken her drugs. Newell then pulled out a pistol and shot the victim one time in the neck. The victim was transported to Lyndon B. Johnson General Hospital, but died a short time later during surgery.
