Traffic Incident at 700 State Highway 6 South

January 7, 2007 -- Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 700 block of State Highway 6 South about 11:25 p.m. on Saturday (January 6).

The victim, Brian Schular, 47, believed to be homeless, was struck by a vehicle and died at the scene.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant P. Casares and Officer S. Bolton reported:

Mr. Schular was attempting to cross six lanes of traffic when he was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound at the location. This area of the highway had no lighting and there was a light rain and fog at the time of the accident. Charges are not pending against the driver of the vehicle.

The investigation is continuing.
