Traffic Incident at 1300 West Sam Houston Parkway South

February 27, 2007 -- Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 1300 block of the West Sam Houston Parkway South (Beltway 8) southbound service road about 10:30 a.m. today (February 27).

The victim, Preston Brown, 90, later died.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant G.T Hall and Officer R. Saenz reported:

Mr. Brown was driving a maroon, 1990 Buick LeSabre southbound on the service road in the 1300 block of the West Sam Houston Parkway South. Brown left the roadway and struck a sign and some bushes. The Buick continued to roll until it struck a concrete abutment. Mr. Brown climbed out of the vehicle and was transported to an area hospital, where he later died.

The investigation is continuing.
