Traffic Incident at 610 Loop At Westpark December 7, 2007 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at the 610 Loop at Westpark about 3:05 a.m. today (Dec. 7). The male victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s office. HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant D.S. Runyan and Officer A. Alaniz reported: A Precinct 4 Deputy Constable was working an extra job monitoring traffic for a road construction crew while sitting in his vehicle, a white Chevrolet Tahoe, at the above location. A red Ford pickup truck, driven by the victim, crossed a section of the feeder that had been blocked off by traffic cones and struck the inside guardrail of the feeder and continued across the road and struck the rear of the Tahoe. The Deputy Constable, Tracy Shillock, sustained facial injuries but appeared to be in fair condition. A construction crew was working in the roadway a short distance ahead of the collision site. Preliminary investigation indicated excessive speed may have been a factor in the accident and investigators will wait for autopsy results to determine if alcohol was related. The investigation is continuing. GO/VHS 12-7-07 For additional information, please contact the HPD Public Affairs Division at 713-308-3200. |
