Update on Incident at 6555 West Bellfort August 31, 2007 - Houston police homicide investigators have released surveillance photos of two suspects wanted in the fatal shooting of a man at 6555 West Bellfort about 5 a.m. on Sunday (August 26). The suspects are described as black males in their early 20s, about 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing 150 to 160 pounds. The shooter was wearing a black T-shirt with a white collar or bandana, and dark colored pants or shorts. He had low cut hair and was clean-shaven. The second suspect was wearing a white T-shirt with light colored shorts and black tennis shoes. Three surveillance photos of the suspects are attached to this news release. The suspects are accused in the killing of Luis A. Ayala, 57, of 6114 Renwick #124-B. Mr. Ayala suffered a gunshot wound to the leg and was pronounced dead at Ben Taub General Hospital. HPD Homicide Division Sergeant B. E. Roberts and Officer J. Sosa reported: Mr. Ayala was working as a security officer at the business when the suspects entered and eventually assaulted and shot him. The males then robbed an employee at gunpoint and fled with a large amount of cash. Investigators are seeking at least five witnesses inside the business at the time who have not come forward to provide additional information. At 1 p.m. TODAY (Friday, Aug. 31) in the media briefing room of HPD Headquarters at 1200 Travis, an investigator in the HPD Homicide Division will be available to answer questions in this case and will distribute DVD copies of the surveillance video from the business. |
