Incident at 1130 Roper August 13, 2007 - Murder charges are pending against a suspect arrested in the fatal stabbing of a man at 1130 Roper about 10:30 p.m. on Saturday (Aug. 11). Jose Samora Ventura (H/m, DOB 2-23-64) is accused in the killing of his wife’s uncle, Rafael Villarreal, 64, of 622 Regal. Villarreal suffered multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Scott and Officer C. Scales reported: Patrol officers were dispatched to the suspect’s home at 1130 Roper about 2:15 a.m. on Sunday (Aug. 12) to meet family members outside the residence. Upon arrival, the officers were told the family feared a relative might be hurt inside the home. Officers checked inside and found Mr. Villarreal deceased. Investigators learned that Ventura’s wife had filed a police report on Saturday night (Aug. 11), alleging sexual misconduct by her husband against one of the couple’s children. About 10:30 that evening, Villarreal went to the Ventura home to confront Ventura about the allegation. A confrontation between the two men ensued and Ventura stabbed Villarreal. Ventura was located on Sunday (Aug. 12) and he eventually confessed to investigators his role in the killing.
