Incident at 8648 Victorian Village
April 26, 2007 - A suspect wanted on a felony warrant fatally shot himself when Houston police officers arrived to arrest him at 8648 Victorian Village about 1 p.m. on Wednesday (April 25).
The suspect, Michael Anthony Lightning (b/m, DOB: 11/11/63), was wanted on a felony warrant for failure to register as a sex offender. He suffered an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant N.T. Ruland and Officer E.H. Schmidt reported:
Officers with the HPD Major Offenders Division located Lightning at a residence and were going to arrest him on his open felony warrant. When officers arrived, they saw Lightning parking a vehicle at the rear of the residence, approached and attempted to arrest him. Lightning saw the officers and produced a revolver, pointing it at one of the officers, before pointing it at his own head and retreating into the residence. A perimeter was set around the residence and SWAT team members were notified. After several hours, SWAT made entry into the residence and found Lightning deceased in an upstairs closet.
