Update on Incident at 15200 Rockwell
April 13, 2007 -- Houston police homicide investigators have arrested a suspect in the fatal shooting of a man at 15200 Rockwell about 3:50 a.m. on June 25, 2006.
The suspect, 16 at the time of the murder, has been referred to Fort Bend County Juvenile Detention and Probation authorities on charges of murder and aggravated assault. The victim, Nazario Zuniga, 31, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeants C.W. Howard and P.C. Motard, and Officers E. Carstens and C.P. Abbondandolo reported:
Mr. Zuniga was driving his truck southbound in the 15200 block of Rockwell and veered off the road and struck a retaining wall. Passersby assumed the vehicle was involved in an accident and called police. Officers arrived and discovered Zuniga had been shot multiple times.
Homicide investigators connected this murder with a separate shooting of a woman which occurred only moments before, in the same area. The female survived her wounds. A subsequent investigation led investigators to identify the suspect and they arrested him as he was being released from the Harris County Jail on Thursday (April 12).
No motive for these crimes has been determined at this time.
