Update on Incident at 197 Goodson #6

April 10, 2007 -- Charges have been filed against a man wanted in the fatal shooting of two men at 197 Goodson #6 about 7:15 p.m. on January 19.

The suspect, Daniel Mendez known as “Yengo” (w/m, 25 to 26 years of age) is charged with murder in the 178th State District Court. A photo of Mendez is attached to this news release.

The victims, Jose Zamudio-Tena and Elkin Peralta-Martinez, were both shot in the head and were pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant A. Carillo and Officer H.A. Chavez and reported:

Witnesses reported hearing an argument between Zamudio-Tena, Peralta-Martinez and another male coming from apartment #6 prior to the shooting. Mendez arrived at the scene and got involved in the argument. Zamudio-Tena and Peralta-Martinez were told by Mendez to stay away and as they approached him, he shot them in the head. Mendez fled on foot and is still wanted.
