Chief Hurtt Updates Status of Two Shooting Investigations

April 4, 2007 -- I want to follow up on a pledge I made to the public back in January regarding our findings and the status of two officer-involved shooting investigations, one at 4600 Knoxville, the other at 5018 Curtain.

Our homicide investigators have worked tirelessly in their pursuit of the facts in the deaths of Mr. Omar Esparza on January 7 and Mr. Robert McIntosh on January 8. It is my belief our investigators have done the most professional job possible in gathering all evidence available to present to the grand jury.

I am unable to release additional information at this time because the investigations have not been presented to a grand jury. However, as soon as the grand jury has been seated, completed its investigations and released its findings, I will provide more detailed information to the public.
