Update on Incident at 140 Hardwicke Road

September 22, 2006 -- Houston Police Homicide Division Investigators have arrested and charged a suspect in the fatal shooting of a man and woman at 140 Hardwicke Road about 12:40 p.m. on Tuesday, January 10, 2006.

Gustavo De Jesus Lopez (Hm/ DOB 9-03-76) is charged with Capital Murder in the 177th State District Court.

Details of the incident are as follows:

The first victim has been identified as J. Felix Valdez, 29, of 6525 Redding Springs. He suffered gunshot wounds to the face and chest. The second victim is identified as Concepsion Vazquez, 44, of 6931 Winding Trace. She suffered gunshot wounds to her head and face. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

The victims operated the "Discoteca Y Novedades" Video Store at 140 Hardwicke Road. They were shot multiple times by two unknown Hispanic male suspects who fled the scene. Investigators believe robbery may have been a motive for the shooting.
