Update on Incident at 8800 Airport #219

September 18, 2006 -- Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 8800 Airport #219 about 7:20 p.m. on Friday, September 8, 2006.

The suspect, Genaro Richard Torres (H/m, DOB: 6/14/79), is charged with murder in the 248th State District Court. He is accused in the killing of Robin Michael Godbolt, 19, who suffered a gunshot wound to the head and later died at Ben Taub General Hospital. On the run since the shooting, Torres turned himself in at the HPD Stringfellow Police Station on Sunday (Sept.17).

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant N.T. Ruland and Officer M. Khan reported:

The victim was standing in the open doorway of his motel room when two males nearby got into an argument. Those two males exchanged gunfire and the victim was struck one time in the head.

Investigators learned the victim and two males were acquaintances and the incident is possibly drug-related.
