September 5, 2006 -- Houston
police are searching for a suspect who opened fire on two Houston
police officers at 4100 Maury about 3 a.m. today (Sept. 5).
HPD Officer C.M. Holloway, sworn in as an officer
in July of 2006, returned fire after the suspect fired numerous

in as an officer in August of 2000, did not fire his weapon. Neither
officer, assigned to the Central Patrol Division, was injured.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeants C.W. Howard and
M.W. McStravick reported:
HPD officers on routine patrol observed a moving
vehicle without headlights. Officers saw the vehicle stopped in
the 4100 block of Maury and initiated a traffic stop. The suspect
got out of the driver's side door and began shooting at officers.
Officer Holloway returned fire at the suspect, who continued to
fire at officers as he fled on foot. Additional officers conducted
an extensive search of the area; however, the suspect was not
located and remains at-large. There was no evidence that the suspect
was shot during the exchange of gunfire.
The suspect is described as a black male in his
early to mid 20s. He is approximately 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet
10 inches tall and weighs approximately 175 pounds. The suspect
has shoulder length braided hair and was wearing a white "skull
