Traffic Incident at 13400 East Freeway

November 14, 2006 -- Houston police are investigating a hit and run fatal traffic accident in the 13400 block of the East Freeway (Interstate I-10 East) about 10:50 p.m. on Monday (November 13).

The victim, identified as Jessie D. Montgomery, 51, of 5620 North Main #26-B in Baytown, was struck by a vehicle and died at the scene.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant S.R. Sorge and Officers D. Gutierrez and J.P. Walsh reported:

A witness reported seeing the victim attempt to cross the eastbound lanes of the East Freeway when he was struck by a black Ford F-150 truck. The driver of the truck pulled over momentarily, then drove away eastbound on the freeway.

Investigators are asking for the driver of the truck to contact them to provide a statement. Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Hit and Run Unit at 713-247-4065.
