Traffic Incident at 6000 West Airport

November 11, 2006 -- Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 6000 West Airport on November 11, 2006 at 2:42 p.m.

The victim has been identified as Lionel Tolbert, 55. He was ejected from his vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant A.C. Fraincois and Officers D. Ertons, Y. Bashir and T. Nguyen reported:

According to witnesses, Mr. Tolbert was traveling eastbound on West Airport at a high rate of speed when he struck the inside curb and crashed into a light pole. The vehicle flipped several times before coming to a stop. It appears that Mr. Tolbert was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident.
