Update on Incident at 8701 Gustine Lane #4606

November 10, 2006 -- Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the death of a woman at 8701 Gustine Lane #4606 about 11:15 a.m. on Saturday (Nov 4).

The suspect, Najia Omar Mohamad (w/f, DOB: 1/1/57), is charged with murder in the 174th State District Court. She is accused in the killing of her daughter, Rohina Abdul Ali, 22, of 8701 Gustine Lane #4606. Najia Mohamad was arrested at her residence on Thursday (Nov. 9) without incident.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant W.J. Anthony and Officer D.W. Arnold reported:

Investigators believe Mohamad repeatedly struck Rohina Ali on the head with a sledgehammer as she lay in her bed. Mohamad originally claimed to have found Ali lying in bed and deceased from unknown causes. A motive in the killing is unknown at this time. Ali's four-year-old daughter remains in the custody of C.P.S. officials.
