Incident at 7051 Avenue O
May 31, 2006 -- Houston police
homicide investigators believe the fatal shootings Tuesday night
(May 30) of two men found at separate locations, one at 7051 Avenue
O and the other at 7929 Clinton Drive, are connected.
The identities of both men are pending notifications
to their family members.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant G. Gonzales and
Officers I.F. Flores, A. Mares and K.P. Carr reported:
About 7:55 p.m. on Tuesday, patrol officers responded
to a shooting call at 7051 Avenue O. Officers found the first
victim lying in the street in front of a house. The victim was
pronounced dead at the scene with a gunshot wound to the upper
shoulder. A large caliber pistol was found nearby. Witnesses saw
a gray or silver, newer model, four-door Lincoln Town Car leaving
the area.
A short time later, that vehicle was found on
the parking lot of a bar at 7929 Clinton Drive. The second victim,
found dead in the back seat of the vehicle, suffered a gunshot
wound to the chest. The vehicle had multiple bullet holes, as
many as 15 strikes, along the vehicle's right side.
Investigators learned both male victims were
longtime friends and were together at the time of the shootings.
It was also learned that five Hispanic males were in the vehicle
and had approached the homeowner and a friend of the homeowner
at 7051 Avenue O just prior to the shootings. Some type of argument
occurred and gunshots were exchanged between the two groups.
Three of the five Hispanic males from that vehicle
and the homeowner and his friend are being sought for questioning.
