Incident at 5747 Lycomb
May 29, 2006 -- A 53-year-old
man is shot and killed by an unknown gunman on Monday, May 29,
2006 at about 12:45 a.m. at 5747 Lycomb.
According to Houston Police Department Homicide
Division Sergeants C.W. Howard and M.W. McStravick, the victim,
Fortino Olvera Martinez and other relatives were having a gathering
in front of their home. One of the family members went to his
father's truck to get a beverage from a cooler in the bed of the
truck and observed a man lying in the yard of a neighbor. The
suspect got up and threatened the family member. After a brief
struggle with the suspect, the family member ran back to the home.
Witnesses reported that another suspect armed
with a weapon came out of the shadows and both suspects' shot
at the home striking Fortino Martinez and another family member.
Martinez was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he
died from his injuries. The other family member was taken to Memorial
Hermann Hospital and suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspects are described as black males, between
the ages of 16 to 20 years old. Both weighed about 140 to 150
pounds.
